We foster an environment, for learners that promote self-discipline and motivation and assists students in developing skills to become economically independent and self-sufficient adults who will succeed in the workplace and contribute responsibly to the community. The Mondeor Eco School of Skills’ curriculum is a four-year educational track that is dually focused around academic learning and vocational training.
Learners receive a comprehensive education in all traditional academic subject areas – Afrikaans, English, Creative Arts, Mathematics, Natural Science, Personal and Social Wellbeing, and Physical Education – at an Intermediate Phase level. We provide an environment where we plant seeds of hope and encouragement and cultivate a positive attitude. We offer an opportunity to reach a successful future, as well as the means to build a good and solid foundation while learning in an eco-environment. The skills we provide will empower learners to successfully move into society. We believe that learning is a journey of exploration, a collaboration between learner and teacher, inspired by curiosity, guided by professional insight and commitment, grounded in community values and focused on the natural development of each child’s potential. Mondeor Eco School of Skills work to ensure the education learners receive is tailored to meet their individual needs and designed to give them the skills to improve their life chances. We aim to support the progress of the learners enabling them to gain qualifications for future pathways. The development of the learner’s personal integrity, self-respect and citizenship is central to all work. Our school is a place where young people can learn through supportive interaction, experience and success. We aim to provide a safe environment for both young people and staff so that the emphasis can be placed upon growing, learning and fulfilling the potential that exists. We are committed to improving the life chances of our young people by removing barriers to participation and achievement. Our aim is to create a secure and inspiring environment where each young person is supported holistically to enable them to take ownership of their lives, their learning and their decisions. The concerns of parents/guardians will be listened to and acted upon where possible so that the needs of their children are effectively met. We aim to instil in each young person an understanding of their inherent value and the values of our school and to enable them to go on to live in the world as independent people.
